Gathright, the 2013 NAIA Outdoor National Champion in the 400-meter dash will look to become the first to capture an outdoor and indoor NAIA national championship in Baker history. Gathright also competed in the long jump on Friday and took 14th with a jump of 7.08m.
2014 HAAC Indoor Track and Field women's MVP Billi Pipes took second-place in her 200-meter heat in a personal best time of 24.81 and will compete in the finals on Saturday.
Ty Sloan won her heat in the women's 60-meter hurdles preliminaries heat in a time of 8.64 and then won her semifinal heat to advance to the final heat Saturday.
Two-time NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National runner-up in the pole vault, Katie Thurbon took 13th in the pole vault on Friday with a mark of 3.48m and will not compete on Saturday in the finals
The only Wildcat to compete on Thursday in day one of the national championship was senior Megan Rosa. Rosa took home 15th-place and finished in a time of 18:02, a Baker school-record.
