Nine Wildcats Travel to NAIA Indoor Nationals

GENEVA, Ohio Nine members of the Baker University track and field team will compete in this week's 49th annual men's and 33rd annual women's National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Indoor Track and Field National Championships.

The event runs from Thursday, Mar. 6 through Saturday, Mar. 8 in Geneva, Ohio, at the SPIRE Institute Track and Field Sports Complex. Over 130 men's and women's programs will compete as action begins at 1 p.m. EST Thursday with the women's pentathlon and the men's heptathlon at 1:30 p.m.

Eight Baker women's track and field athletes will compete this week including Billi Pipes in the 200-meter dash, Tyler Sloan in the 60-meter hurdles, Jana Koegel in the 60-meter hurdles, Katie Thurbon in the pole vault, Kayla Hannam in both the triple jump and high jump, Valerie Schirmer in the shot put and Megan Rosa in the 5,000 meter dash.

The only male athlete to compete this week is Jeremy Gathright who will compete in the long jump, triple jump and 400-meter dash.

Gathright and Nelson are in search of their second NAIA national championship, as Nelson won the 2012 NAIA Outdoor National Championship in the Javelin and Gathright was the 2013 NAIA Outdoor National Champion in the 400-meter dash.
