Both the BU men's and women's teams captured HAAC Championships in the 2012 and 2013 Indoor competitions.
In fact the men's track and field team has won every HAAC Championship meet since the HAAC Outdoor Track Championships in 2011 and the women's squad has won every HAAC Championship meet since the Indoor Track Championships in 2012.
Seniors Katie Thurbon and Jeremy Gathright will be competing for some historical feats this weekend as well. Both Thurbon and Gathright have never finished lower than first in their respective events in the HAAC Indoor Track Championships.
Thurbon was the winner in 2011, 2012 and 2013 in the pole vault and Gathright captured championships in the triple jump in the 2011, 2012 and 2013 HAAC Indoor Championship meets.
Gathright is also in search of his third HAAC Indoor championship in the long jump and second championship in both the 400 and 200-meter races.
Distance runner Jenna Stanbrough is also in search of her third HAAC Championship in the 1,000-km event. Stephanie Nelson has captured two shot put HAAC Indoor Championships in her career at Baker and she will look for a third this weekend.
Valarie Schirmer enters the weekend as the No. 1 ranked shot putter in the NAIA and the No. 1 weight thrower in the country, so she will compete against her teammate Nelson for the top spot.
