Baker Women s XC Lands Three Scholar-Athletes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Three members of the Baker University women's cross country team were honored with the 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete award for their stellar work in the classroom.

The three runners were junior Kerry Kurta, and seniors Megan Rosa, and Jenna Stanbrough.

296 women's cross country student-athletes from around the country were named to the 2013 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete list.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.

Rosa and Kurta both participated in the 2013 NAIA National Championships race at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kan., this year.

Rosa finished in 125th place with a time of 19:23, while Kurta finished in 172nd place with a time of 19:46.

Stanbrough had her best race of the season at the host Maple Leaf Invitational back on Aug. 31 when she finished in 10th place with a time of 16:49.
