Cross Country Competes at Haskell Invite

Jamie Steury finished in 29th place for Baker on Saturday

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Baker University cross country team competed at the Haskell Indian Nations Invite on Saturday in Lawrence, Kansas.

The Wildcat women’s team took 8th out of 12 teams, while the men’s team finished 3rd out of 10.

The men’s team finished just behind first place winner Truman State and second place Benedictine. The BC women’s cross country team won the women’s race.

Joe Linder led Baker with his 13th place finish 8K time of 27:19 and teammate Corey Matteson finished in the Top 20 with his 18th place finish time of 27:29.

Gunnar Hays placed in the Top 30 in 27th place and Andrew Emanuels placed just behind Hays in 32nd place.

On the women’s side, Jenna Black and Brenda McCollum led the way with 35th and 37th place finishes in times of 20:45 and 20:46 respectively in the 5K race.

Madison Dispensa also placed in the Top 50 with her 41st place performance time of 20:55.

Baker will next take on the Mount Mercy Invite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Saturday, Oct. 24.
