Baker Volunteers in South Florida

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Members of the Baker University men's and women's cross country teams volunteered at the Feeding South Florida facility in the Miami, Fla., metro area over the weekend while on its trip to compete in a half-marathon in Hollywood, Fla.

With the help of head coach Zach Kindler and graduate assistant coach Ian Hankins, Baker worked in the warehouse of the facility and helped pack lunches for elementary schools in the local area. This marked the second time the Wildcats have volunteered at the facility.

"It's an amazing opportunity for us to give back to the less fortunate and distribute whatever we can when we are traveling as a team," said Kindler. "The athletic aspect is only a portion of what Baker University is all about and it's always a lot of fun to be able to get involved with these types of opportunities."

After volunteering, the Wildcats then took part in a half marathon race that ran through Hollywood, Fla. Aaron Caldwell won the Top Overall Male award with his time of 1:12.22, while Megan Rosa finished second in the Top Overall Female standings with her time of 1:27.30 and Lauren Jaqua took third in a time of 1:29.02.
