Men s Track & Field Garners Three Scholar-Athletes

Gunnar Hays is one of three Wildcats from the men's track team to earn the Scholar-Athlete award

GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Baker University men’s track & field team captured three NAIA Scholar-Athletes announced at the 2015 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships over the weekend.

The three male athletes to earn the award were juniors Asher Hannon and Tyler Randall and senior Gunnar Hays.

Randall was one of 15 athletes from Baker to compete in the 2015 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala., as he ran on the men’s 4x400m relay team with teammates DayShawn Berndt, Avery Parker and Tosh Mihesuah.

The trio was amongst a group of 287 men’s indoor and outdoor track and field student-athletes from across the NAIA to earn the award.

In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
