Cross Country Competes at Mount Mercy Meet

Brenda McCollum finished in 64th place on Saturday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Baker University cross country teams competed in the NAIA Seminole Valley Stampede hosted by Mount Mercy on Saturday.

Both teams finished in 11th place in a field full of all NAIA cross country programs.

In the women’s 5K race, Rosie Hollis again finished as the top runner for the ‘Cats with a 27th place finish time of 19:31. Jenna Black was the only other Wildcat to finish in the Top 50 in 44th place in a time of 20:13.

Jamie Steury led the Baker men’s squad with his 36th place finish mark of 26:36 in the men’s 8K.

Gunnar Hays and Corey Matteson also finished in the Top 50, with Hays taking 45th and Matteson in 49th.

Both of Baker’s Cross Country programs will next compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, Nov. 7 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
