Baker Competes in Southern Stampede

Rosie Hollis led Baker with her fifth place finish on Saturday at the Southern Stampede

JOPLIN, Mo. – The Baker University cross country team competed in one of the premier cross country meets in the Midwest on Saturday at Missouri Southern State University’s Southern Stampede.

The women’s team took 10th out of 20 teams, while the men’s squad finished third out of 16 squads.

Rosie Hollis had another strong meet for Baker, leading the team with her fifth place finish in a time of 19:04. Teammate Jenna Black finished in the Top 50 with her 48th place finish in a time of 20:23.

On the men’s side, Jamie Steury led the way with his 12th place finish in the 8K race in a time of 26:51.

Joe Linder finished in the Top 20 with his 16th place finish in a time of 27:00 and Corey Matteson also finished in the Top 25 in his time of 27:09 and 23rd place finish.

Baker will next take on the Roy Griak Invite on Saturday, Sept. 26 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
