Ethan de Leon signs his letter of intent to join Baker with his family

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University men’s track and field team announced the signing of two future Wildcats on Wednesday, with the addition of Ethan de Leon of Prairie Village, Kan., and Kevin Thompson of Osage City, Kan.

Thompson ran track and field at Osage City High School, while de Leon comes to Baker after a high school career at Bishop Miege HS.

“Ethan will make an impact with our already strong vaulting crew, while Kevin will bring some depth to our men’s sprinting crew,” said Baker head coach Tim Byers.

Ethan broke the school record in the pole vault while at Bishop Miege and finished fourth in the State Championships. He chose Baker over Fort Hays State, Olivet Nazarene and Pittsburg State.

Thompson qualified for the State meet in the 4x400-meter relay, the 200-meter relay, the 400-meter and 4x100-meter relay team while at Osage City HS.
