"Zach put his whole heart and soul into the cross country and track team during his time at Baker University," said Zach Kindler's wife Sara Kindler. "He was so passionate about coaching and touching athletes lives. He enjoyed every moment.

"He would be so honored knowing there is a scholarship fund in his memory. I hope the athletes who receive this scholarship put as much passion and soul into being on the team as he did during their time at Baker."

Coach Kindler spent seven years with the Baker athletics department and overall for his career, he captured 17 HAAC conference championships and was named conference coach of the year 20 times.

"Zach lives in our hearts and minds everyday" said Baker Director of Athletics Theresa Yetmar. "He had a tremendous positive impact on the lives of our student-athletes. We felt one of the best ways to honor his legacy was to establish a scholarship in his name. We will work with our Office of Advancement and the Kindler family to grow this fund throughout the year."
