BU Takes on Chile Pepper Festival

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. The Baker University cross country team competed against some of the country's best this weekend at the University of Arkansas' Chile Pepper Festival.

The Wildcat men's team took 15th out of 27 teams in the College Division race, while the women's team finished in 16th out of 25 teams.

In the race of 429 runners, Gunnar Hays led all Wildcat runners with his 211th place finish in a time of 26:58.

Jamie Stuery was 223rd in a time of 27:04 and Corey Matteson took 231st. Senior Vinny Tadokoro was 272 and Joe Linder finished 279th.

On the women's side, In the race of 375 runners, Sarah Hollis ran the fastest time of any Wildcat in a time of 19:04 and took home 177th. Rachel Ash was 180th in a time of 19:08.

Jillian Benson finished in 220th place and Autumn Sifuentes was 298th. Brenda McCollum also ran for Baker with a 301st position and Caitlin Apollo was just behind her in 313th.

Baker will next take on the Pre-Nationals meet this Saturday, Oct. 11 at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kan.
